Eggs-actness

I have a strange child. When presented with an artistic activity, she has an extremely long attention span. Last week my sister-in-law introduced water coloring to her. She sat there for an hour and a half without even making a sound continually painting. She then had to be pulled away in order to eat lunch. All of the other kids (even the 9 year old) had left her at the table to paint on her own a long while before.

This week, we were coloring Easter eggs for family home evening. Allowing the egg to sit in the dye without her participation seemed too boring, so I decided to give her paints. She was very upset when I finally had to pull her away from her artistic project (1 egg) after the other children had colored 3 dozen eggs, and everything else had been cleaned up.

I'm not quite sure what this means. Neither Craig nor I have any visual artistic ability, so hopefully we'll get back to Virginia soon (we're moving in July for my medical school) so Aunt Gina and MeMa can foster this possible talent.

Happy Easter!

Here's a good quote I found to remind us of the season.

"In his life, Christ is an example, showing us how to live; in his death, he is a sacrifice, satisfying for our sins; in his resurrection, a conqueror; in his ascension, a king, in his intercession, a high priest. -Luther

Love the video. I wish Lib would do anything for longer than 5 minutes. You're such a nice mom to let her do artistic projects. I get a nervous tick whent he kids even want easy play-doh. She would love one of those art easels you can buy little kids...

don't praise me too highly. i'm never the source of the artistic projects. it's the joy of living with aunt gina. i hadn't even thought to teach her to color until she mentioned it :) haha!

Oh man she is a cutie! You should for sure encourage her artistic abilities. It's beneficial in so many ways.
Good luck with the move. Where are you now if you're not in Virginia?

It is so amazing! I'm excited to see what she does with this as she gets older. That easel idea is a good one. Love her and her concentrated artistic face. Thanks for adding that quote too it is just perfect.

That was from me (Lacey). I guess it's not a good enough excuse to get my own computer that Chas can't touch just because of these little mix ups :)

oh she's changed so much since her first birthday! you should buy her some of crayola's color wonder stuff, it's perfect for small children (we made the mistake of showing Gillian sidewalk chalk and now she wants to be outside in the cold :)

She is so cute! That is such a fun age when they actually have an attention span! Then they turn 6 and become a sassy nightmare! Good luck with the move, sorry we didn't make it out to DC to hang with you guys! We are actually moving as well, if we can sell our house.

Now all you gotta do is make cleaning seem artistic. Then maybe she'll do that for an hour and a half.

Very cool. She is a natural. Keep her engaged in that kind of stuff and she'll learn it on her own too.
